Scripture
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
— Psalms 90:12
Reflection: Scripture does not ask us to number our days so that we become fearful about time. It asks us to do so that we become wise about how we use it.
Much of what fills our attention is urgent but not necessarily important. News changes hourly. Arguments appear and disappear. Problems demand immediate attention and then are replaced by others. Yet the things that often matter most—faithfulness, relationships, character, generosity, prayer—grow quietly over years.
A useful question for today is: If this day is a gift from God, what deserves the best of it? Perhaps there is someone who deserves your full attention, work that should be done carefully rather than hurriedly, forgiveness that has been postponed, or simply time that should be given to God instead of another distraction.
Wisdom is not merely knowing more. It is learning what deserves our limited time.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of this day. Give wisdom to those who govern, protect Romania and its neighbors, comfort those living through war and uncertainty, and restrain those who would use power destructively. Teach me to use my own time faithfully. Help me distinguish what is merely urgent from what is truly important, to love the people You have placed around me, and to do today’s work with integrity. Give me a heart of wisdom and a life increasingly shaped by Your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
