In the city of Craiova, the light of the Gospel continues to shine through the ministry of our missionary Sammy C. and the growing church he leads there. What began a few years ago as a small gathering of young people hungry for truth has now become a vibrant community of believers meeting regularly for worship, discipleship, and outreach. Every Sunday, this young church opens its doors to people from all walks of life – students, families, and seekers who long to know God more deeply. Through home groups, Bible studies, and youth meetings, Sammy and his team are nurturing faith and helping new believers take their first steps in following Christ.
One of the most beautiful testimonies of this ministry is the story of David, a young man who recently chose to be baptized on his eighteenth birthday. David has been part of the church community for five years, ever since he attended the very first youth camp Sammy organized. There, the seed of the Gospel was planted in his heart. Over time, through Bible studies, prayer, and friendship, that seed began to grow. Coming from a non-Christian family, David faced strong opposition at home. His parents even threatened to send him away if he followed through with baptism. Yet his desire to follow Christ only deepened. With much prayer and encouragement from Sammy and others in the church, he finally took that courageous step of faith. His mother attended the baptism service, and Sammy prays that her heart, too, will be touched by God’s grace.
Now David dreams of studying theology in Bucharest, following the same path Sammy once took. Alongside another young man from the church, he has already begun preparing for this new season of study and ministry. Reflecting on their growth, Sammy shared, “I’m excited to see the progress these young men are making in knowing God and studying His Word, and it brings me great joy to see them preparing for ministry together.”
Beyond this personal story of transformation, Sammy’s ministry team continues to bring light and hope to some of the poorest communities on the outskirts of Craiova. Many of these families face deep need, yet they welcome every visit with gratitude. Sammy and his co-workers deliver food, clothing, and other essentials, but they also share prayer, encouragement, and the message of salvation. For the children, these visits often include songs, Bible stories, and games – moments of joy that reveal how powerfully God can work through small acts of kindness. Hearts are opening, and lives are being touched by the love of Christ in places where hope once seemed out of reach.
The church’s digital ministry has become a remarkable avenue for sharing the Gospel far beyond the building in Craiova. Weekly livestreams, recorded messages, and social-media posts reach people in cities and villages alike, offering hope and spiritual nourishment in a region where access to Christian teaching is scarce. The team monitors comments, responds to questions, and often invites viewers into follow-up online Bible studies. Several participants who were once silent online have now joined small groups and begun actively exploring faith. The online platform is opening new doors and enabling connections that would otherwise be impossible. “It is so wonderful and encouraging to see that the mission I carry out online is bearing fruit and that God is working in people’s hearts,” Sammy said.
