It’s always inspiring when famous, successful, and wealthy people use their positions of influence to point millions towards Christ.

It’s all the more inspiring when these faithful Christians leave the fame and glory behind to humbly follow their calling in Christ.

Such is the case with two-time NFL Super Bowl champion Stefen Wisniewski who is retiring from the league after 10 seasons and announced last week that he now plans to become a pastor.

“What am I going to do next? I’m gonna be a pastor,” he explained in a Twitter post on August 26th as CBN News reported.

“The absolute best part of my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ and I can’t imagine a better full-time job than teaching people the Bible and sharing the love of Christ with others.”

In a written statement, Wisniewski, who has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Pittsburgh Steelers, thanked the “King of the Universe and my life,” Jesus Christ, for his 10-year career.

“You were my strength, joy, purpose, anchor, life, peace, and passion through it all,” the athlete-turned-aspiring pastor wrote.

“I only made it through the tough times because of Your presence and because of the promises in Your Word. And the intense joy from knowing You far surpasses any joy that came from even the best parts of the game of football. And all glory that people try to give to me for what I’ve accomplished truly and rightfully belongs to You. Romans 11:36.

Praise the Lord! Let’s pray that this next season of Wisniewski’s life bears much fruit for the Gospel.
