An interview Friday between former Fox News host and current NBC News contributor Megyn Kelly and Russian President Vladimir Putin went disastrously unwell after Kelly broached the subject of alleged Russian collusion in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
“We didn’t do this!” a visibly frustrated Putin claimed after the NBC host began talking about the unproven allegations. “Stop this!”
He even reportedly removed his earpiece at least twice in frustration, according to The Daily Caller.
“IP addresses can be invented — a child can do that!” he added when Kelly claimed that American intelligence agencies uncovered evidence that the hackers who breached the Democrats’ servers and emails were from Russia. “Your underage daughter could do that. That is not proof.”
Putin then tried turning the discussion around on Kelly, claiming that American operatives have been interfering in his own nation’s politics for “many years.”
“As for the interference, look at what your colleagues are doing in our country,” he remarked. “They have been deep down in our domestic policies doing what they want, enjoying themselves, on a systemic basis for many years.”
The Russian president also asked Kelly if she needs a pill.
“There was nothing concrete, zero — it’s just hysteria,” he said in response to the host’s continued insistence of Russian collusion. “Should I give you a pill?”
To see portions of the interview, which is slated to air in full on Sunday, play the video below, and note how the audience repeatedly laughed (presumably at Kelly) during the whole debacle:
If Megyn Kelly hoped to bounce back from the decline in her ratings and support she faced after she went after President Donald Trump during the presidential election last year and later left Fox News in search of greater fame (or whatever), she thought wrong.
Friday’s stunningly bad interview demonstrated that she’s still tinged with a glaring anti-Trump bias that’s so bright and conspicuous that even Vladimir Putin found it disturbing.
