Quotable Quotes

The book of Deuteronomy is the book which demands obedience. Obedience is the keynote of almost every chapter. It is the great lesson of the book. Obedience in the spirit of love, flowing from a blessed and enjoyed relationship with Jehovah, is the demand made of His people. —Arno C. Gaebelein

It may be safely asserted that very few parts of the Old Testament Scriptures can be read with greater profit by the genuine Christian than the book of Deuteronomy. —Adam Clarke

Moses, at the close of his life, looked upon a new generation, a new land, a new life, a new leader, and so there was the need for this new revelation of the Divine “love,” nowhere mentioned until now, though much illustrated. . . . It is probably true that Deuteronomy is the  most spiritual book in the Old Testament. —W. Graham Scroggie

Notable Notes

According to Deuteronomy 34, Moses died just outside the Promised Land and was not allowed to enter in. However, Moses did eventually make it in. Later on, in the Gospels, Moses is seen inside of the Promised Land on the Mount of Transfiguration, talking with Jesus and Elijah (see Matt. 17:3; Luke 9:30–31).
