A spectacular fireworks display welcomed in the new year in Dubai with the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, taking centre stage.

Thousands gathered to watch the impressive display which featured the faces of the United Arab Emirates emirs illuminated onto the Burj Khalifa, which stands 2,723 feet high.

People watched spell-bound as a dazzling array of pyrotechnics adorned the Dubai skyline.
