In light of the present financial crisis, it’s interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
‘I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

In lumina crizei financiale in care ne aflam, este interesant sa citim ce a spus Thomas Jefferson in 1802:
“ Sint convins ca institutiile bancare sint mai periculoase decit niste armate gata de lupta. Daca Americanii vor permite vreodata bancilor private sa le controleze currency, in prima faza prin inflatie, apoi prin deflatie, bancile si corporatiile care vor creste in jurul bancilor o sa depriveze oamenii de proprietatile lor, iar copii acestora vor ajunge homeless (fara casa) pe un continent pe care parintii lor l-au cucerit.”

La care se pot adauga si urmatoarele doua tot de marele Thomas Jefferson:
“I deem one of the essential principles of our government to be peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations, entangling alliances with none…” (1801)
“Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto.” (1799)
Oh, daca am asculta in zilele noastre la sfatul lui Jefferson, si nu ne-am incurca in conflictele altor popoare, ci ne-am vedea de responsabilitatile noastre. Cel mai puternic fel de a influenta alte popoare spre limanul libertatii este acela prin propriu exemplu, exemplu demn de urmat, si nu prin gloante, tancuri sau mitraliere. Si nici prin ajutoare de “foreign aid” pe care Constitutia Statelor Unite nu le ingaduie. Adevaratul foreign aid este acela pe care oamenii liberi il daruie de buna voie si nesiliti de nimeni prin organizatii particulare de caritate ca si Samaritan’s Purse, World Vision si multe altele ca acestea.
Iar daca Jefferson nu e de ajuns, ascultati si de parintele Americii, George Washington care a spus:
“Tis our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world…” (1796)
Motivul pentru care oameni ca si Washington si Jefferson sunt giganti pe pinza istoriei Americii, printre multe altele, este pentru ca sfaturile lor nascute in vremuri de mari incercari si freamat national s-au dovedit a fi sfaturi nu doar de un moment trecator doar pentru o generatie ci adevaruri fara de sfarsit, sau “timeless truths”.
