THE PRIESTS OF “REASON” HAD A FAVOURITE ISLAND!
In February 2002, Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet flew from JFK to Monterey, California, carrying passengers to the TED conference. On board were Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and Steven Pinker. Three of the most prominent voices of the so-called “New Atheism,” ferried through the sky by the generous hand of a man who would later be convicted of procuring a minor for prostitution and charged with sex trafficking.
The men who stridently told us God was a delusion and religion poisons everything, riding on the private jet of a child predator to deliver lectures about reason and enlightenment. Few could not write satire that lands this hard.
Dennett later confirmed the flight on Twitter, calling it “uneventful.” Well enough.
Francis Schaeffer warned us 50 years ago that when autonomous man cuts himself loose (or, at least pretends to) from the infinite-personal God, he does not ascend into enlightenment. He descends. First into philosophical absurdity, then into moral chaos, and finally into the kind of laissez-faire depravity that attends cocktail dinners on private islands and asks no hard questions about the young girls in the room. Schaeffer traced the line from the upper storey of modern thought, where meaning and morals bind, yet, float unanchored, down to its inevitable cultural consequences. The Epstein files are those consequences made flesh. And, like it or not, we all have a frontrow seat to the fiasco.
Lawrence Krauss, the theoretical physicist who wrote “A Universe from Nothing” and, with chest puffed, declared himself an “antitheist,” exchanged more than 60 emails with Epstein. He organised a physics conference funded by Epstein’s foundation in the U.S. Virgin Islands, took fellow scientists on excursions to Epstein’s private island for dinner, even accepted $250,000 of Epstein money through his Origins Project at Arizona State University. He publicly defended a convicted sex offender by reassuring us all, as a scientist, that the young women around Epstein were “ages 19 to 23.” Damning evidence to the contrary pollutes the internet daily as millions of emails and images flood our screens.
Krauss’ exact words about his relationship with the convicted child predator? “I don’t feel tarnished in any way by my relationship with Jeffrey; I feel raised by it.”
Raised by it. Let that sink in.
When Krauss himself faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, groping and non-consensual advances spanning a decade, who did he turn to for advice? Jeffrey Epstein. And Epstein’s counsel? Discredit the women. Depict them as unhinged, irrational, and opportunistic. Emerge standing proud on the moral high ground, as though victimising vulnerable women wasn’t enough abuse, their lives subsequently ruined by the aftermath of well engineered smear campaigns.
In one email exchange, the pair laughed about hosting a “men of the world conference.” Krauss helpfully suggested the attendees: Kevin Spacey, Bill Clinton, and Al Franken. Birds of a feather, as the saying goes. Every man on that list publicly accused of sexual misconduct.
In 2014, Krauss, Pinker, and Epstein were photographed together at the Origins Project anniversary gala, six years after Epstein’s conviction. Pinker, who also contributed to Epstein’s legal defence in 2007, now insists he was merely “involuntarily placed next to” Epstein for a picture. What level of idiocy do these miscreants believe we have all sunken too?
Dawkins, Dennett, and Pinker were all clients of literary agent John Brockman, whose Edge Foundation received over half a million dollars from Epstein’s charitable entities and functioned as the intellectual pipeline feeding bright minds to a predator’s dinner table.
Here is what no one in the secular world wants to say out loud. This is not a bug. IT IS A FEATURE.
Cultural departure from a Christian worldview does not happen all at once. It happens in stages. First the philosophers abandon the notion of absolute truth (the only truth they remain absolutely certain about). Then the artists express the resulting despair. Finally the culture absorbs it, into the very warp and woof. Eventually, the man who has told himself there is no transcendent moral law discovers that there is nothing within his system to tell him which dinner invitation to decline.
When you reject the God who speaks, you do not end up with a better ethic. You end up with no ethic at all, just preferences dressed in academic language. “Morality” becomes whatever a man can rationalise between the conference podium and the Caribbean. Subjective morality is not a philosophical position. It is a seared conscience with a permission slip.
These men spent decades lecturing christians that we do not need God to be good, that morality is simply a matter of evolved social instincts and rational consensus, that the Bible is barbaric and religion poisons everything. So, where did their godless moral compass point them? Straight to the private jet and private island of a child sex trafficker.
Spurgeon put it plainly: “The only real argument against the Bible is an unholy life. When a man argues against the Word of God, follow him home, and see if you cannot discover the reason of his enmity to the Word of the Lord. It lies in some sort of sin” (Spurgeon at His Best, Baker Publishing, 1988).
Yes, indeed the fool has indeed said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.
And now we see what the fool does with his hands.
These men stood before cameras and conference halls, mocking the faith once for all delivered to the saints, sneering at the God who thunders from Sinai, “You shall not commit adultery.” Meanwhile, they were boarding a predator’s jet, attending his dinners, taking his money, and coaching each other through misconduct allegations.
Frances Schaeffer spent his life at L’Abri asking honest seekers one devastating question: if your worldview is true, can you live with its consequences? The Epstein files have answered that question for the New Atheists. They cannot. And neither can their victims.
The world told us the New Atheists were the adults in the room.
Turns out the adults were on Epstein’s plane. And, they were the only ones “of age.”
“The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honoured among men.”
Let us be clear about what has happened. The men who told a generation there is no God and no transcendent moral law have been found in the company of a child sex trafficker, taking his money, riding his jet, and counselling each other through their own scandals. And society let them lecture us. The Christ they despised never changed. The law they rejected never moved. Morality is not a human invention. It is grounded in the holiness of the eternal God. And the Epstein files have not disproved that. They have confirmed it.
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” And the absence of that fear? The files speak for themselves.
