We are in a very small country church, packed with people, some waiting outside, by the door, still coming in, some listening by the windows. It is hot, extremely hot, the sweat is slowly meandering on our backs as we wait to begin the service, but that doesn’t matter. We are humbly pumped by the perspective of proclaiming Christ in this small village in Romania where some misunderstood traditions, some occult practices, and other things have caused a once thriving Baptist church to become an empty building.
This is the village of Jegalia, and we are in a church planted by Baptist missionaries in 1907, and which, over the years, has done great work in sharing the Gospel in the area, and which was the home for many great preachers, some of whom have had powerful impact all over the world.

We are here because together with our RMS missionary in the area, Pastor Andrei Cringanu, we have been praying and trying to revive this church. We came here for an entire week with a team of over 30 people from the US and Romania, to make ourselves available for God to stir the waters in this village, to once again proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.

We did VBS with the village kids, we set up a medical clinic, we helped clean up and fix up a poor family’s home, we visited elderly and poor people and provided some food and other items, all in the name of Jesus.

Little did we know that God had begun answering our prayers a few months ago when Sister Lenuta, a local widow and grandmother, had accepted Jesus as her personal Lord, after hearing the Gospel preached by the local missionary. She was reluctant to get baptized however. She was afraid she might be ostracized by her friends and neighbors, but a couple of days ago, she had a dream. She dreamt that she had decided to get baptized, and was trying ro get a hold of Pastor Andrei, to ask him to baptize her, but she was unable to find him. When she woke up, she decided to take the step and make her public confession of faith, just as we were in town. She wanted the whole village to know that she was saved, that she loves Jesus and wants to follow Him, and God wanted to tell us that He is answering our prayers: the church in Jegalia is coming back to life. There is just one person in the church now, but so many came to see sister Lenuta be baptized.

So we were hot, and drenched in sweat, but so pumped, so humbly excited by the amazing opportunity to tell all those curious villagers why we love Jesus so much and what He has done on the cross and how they too can repent and be saved.
We continue to pray for Jegalia, for the many people who heard the gospel that night, but also for the many kids who came to VBS and learned about Jesus, and the entire community who was able to see us being the hands and feet of Jesus, in working, serving, preaching, in love, all for the glory of God! Join us in that prayer, God is working in Jegalia! #rmsproclaimschrist #calarasimission2025
