Într-un discurs înțepător la  Adunarea Generală a ONU  , miercuri, ambasadorul israelian la ONU, Gilad Erdan, a acuzat Națiunile Unite că a declanșat un nou val de antisemitism în  campusurile universitare americane  , acuzând în mod fals Israelul în războiul său împotriva teroriștilor Hamas din Gaza.

„Prin condamnarea falsă a Israelului și marcarea statului evreiesc ca fundament al tuturor relelor, îi încurajezi pe antisemiți și pe teroriști deopotrivă. Din cauza voastră aceste gloate cred că atacarea evreilor este acceptabilă. Apelul la moartea israelienilor este tolerabil”, a spus Erdan membrilor Adunării Generale a ONU (UNGA).

„Acest corp miroase a antisemitism. Este peste tot”, a continuat el și a descris protestele pro-palestiniene și anti-israeliene din campusurile universitare care au dus la atacarea studenților evrei și la interdicția de la cursuri în ultimele săptămâni.

„Cântările revoltăților pro-palestinieni din campusuri sunt îndemnuri pentru distrugerea Israelului. Întotdeauna am știut că Hamas se ascunde în școli. Pur și simplu nu ne-am dat seama că nu sunt doar școli în Gaza. Este, de asemenea, Harvard,  Columbia  și multe universități de elită”, a spus Erdan în discursul său aprins.

Ambasadorul israelian la ONU a comparat noul val de antisemitism intens din universitățile de elită din America cu ascensiunea mișcării naziste din Germania.

„Așa cum Germania a fost capitala mondială a științei și culturii, totuși acolo s-a născut și s-a răspândit nazismul, istoria se repetă acum. Universitățile de elită – presupuse bastioane ale liberalismului și ale mediului academic – au devenit acum terenul de reproducere pentru cel mai odios rasism și bigotism”, a avertizat el.

„ONU nu-i pasă de sângele israelian. Este un colaborator cu naziștii zilelor noastre. Lucrând pentru a asigura supraviețuirea Hamas și chiar pentru a-i recompensa pentru crimă și viol. Nu am cuvinte”, a declarat Erdan.

„ONU! Adunarea Generală! Vitriolul anti-Israel răspândit de această organizație este ceea ce a declanșat ceea ce vedem astăzi”, a spus Erdan, în timp ce a continuat să condamne adunarea generală. 

„ONU astăzi este principalul impediment în calea păcii. Tu.  Sunteți  visul devenit realitate pentru fiecare terorist palestinian care încearcă să distrugă Israelul prin teroare diplomatică. Pentru că fără sprijinul tău, palestinienii ar fi trebuit să interiorizeze că negocierile și compromisurile reciproce sunt singura cale de urmat – așa faci pacea.”

ONU a scos în evidență Israelul în timp ce războaiele declanșează în Sudan și Myanmar, a spus Erdan, chemându-i pe Houthi pentru că au tras Yemenul la dezastru. El a mai spus că Pakistanul este în proces de strămutare forțată a 1,3 milioane de oameni, afganii sunt din nou sub controlul radical al talibanilor, iar Iranul reprimă cu forța femeile.

„Dar nu ești interesat să critici statele necinstite. Sunteți interesat doar să mânjiți statul evreu”, a continuat el și a spus comunității internaționale ONU că, dacă Națiunile Unite nu fac o schimbare serioasă, „lumea se va trezi și va vedea dezastrul în care a devenit ONU”, a continuat Erdan. .

„În viitor, studenții vor studia căderea ONU. Ei vor afla despre falimentul moral și orbirea acestei organizații. Vor fi învățați că indiferența și ipocrizia voastră sunt cele care a dus la prăbușirea ONU.”

Erdan a vorbit în timpul unei dezbateri speciale pentru a protesta împotriva deciziei Statelor Unite de a se opune  cererii Autorității Palestiniene  de a deveni al 194-lea membru al Națiunilor Unite.

Dezbaterea a venit pe fondul îngrijorării comunității internaționale cu privire la civilii din Gaza, unde, potrivit Hamas, peste 34.000 de palestinieni au fost uciși în război – un număr care nu poate fi verificat în mod independent. Israelul a spus că peste 13.000 dintre victime sunt teroriști Hamas sau combatanți aliați.

Trimisul palestinian Riyad Mansour a vorbit, de asemenea, cu Adunarea Generală a ONU, acuzând Israelul de masacrarea și torturarea palestinienilor. El a cerut, de asemenea, aderarea la Statul Palestina, precum și a cerut ONU să facă presiuni asupra Israelului pentru a pune capăt războiului din Gaza.

„Pe măsură ce ne întâlnim astăzi aici, Israelul încă încearcă să împingă poporul palestinian din geografie și din istorie, ocupația sa coborând la niveluri mai profunde de depravare”, a spus Mansour.

„O încetare imediată a focului cerută de mult de această adunare și cerută de acest Consiliu de Securitate este indispensabilă și nu mai poate fi amânată”, a spus el.

„Admiterea statului Palestina la ONU este un semnal fără echivoc că autodeterminarea și statutul palestinienilor nu sunt supuse capriciilor și voinței extremiștilor din Israel. Admiterea noastră la ONU este de mult așteptată. Au trecut 75 de ani în pregătire”, a spus el.

„Nu vom accepta niciodată că dreptul poporului palestinian la autodeterminare, la statutul de stat și admiterea la ONU în vreun fel să fie supus unui veto israelian”, a spus el.

„Nu vom fi descurajați în căutarea libertății”, a continuat el.

„Sunt doar două căi înainte. Una care duce la o viață comună și una care duce la moarte comună. Cu cât aşteptăm mai mult, cu atât este mai greu să pornim pe calea care duce la o pace dreaptă şi durabilă şi o securitate comună”, a spus Mansour.

Trimisul palestinian a informat adunarea că AP intenționează să se adreseze Adunării Generale a ONU pe 10 mai și, printr-o rezoluție, să solicite Consiliului de Securitate al ONU (UNSC) să-și reconsidere cererea de admitere.

„Acesta este timpul pentru acțiuni pentru responsabilitate… momentul să punem capăt complicității este acum”, a spus el.

„Dacă vă întrebați dacă sunteți pe partea corectă a istoriei, puneți-vă o întrebare: ceea ce fac eu pledează pentru libertate și pace sau permițând opresiune și conflict continuu?” întrebă Mansour.

Robert Wood, un ambasador al SUA la ONU, a spus că este îngrijorat de faptul că AGNU ține acum a doua dezbatere pe tema vetoului, iar întâlnirea nu ar fi trebuit să aibă loc. Cu toate acestea, el a menționat că, deși administrația Biden „continuă să susțină cu fermitate o rezoluție cu două state”, ea consideră că aceasta ar trebui făcută prin discuții directe cu Israelul.

Wood a ridicat, de asemenea, întrebarea dacă palestinienii au îndeplinit cerințele tehnice stabilite de ONU pentru statutul de stat, invocând că Hamas este „o organizație teroristă” și încă exercită influență în Gaza.

Ambasadorul a spus că vetoul SUA asupra statului palestinian la CSNU „nu reflectă opoziția față de statul palestinian, ci este o recunoaștere a faptului că va veni doar din negocieri directe între părți”, a spus Wood.

Înainte de 7 octombrie, SUA au lucrat pentru a promova statutul palestinian printr-un acord de normalizare între Israel și vecinii săi arabi, a spus Wood.

„Acest lucru s-a bazat pe judecata SUA că normalizarea este calea cea mai viabilă pentru a face progrese pe teren”, a spus Wood.

Vorbind la ONU despre problema statului palestinian, Erdan a spus: „Niciun lider palestinian, nici unul dintre ei, nu a condamnat măcar Hamas sau masacrul lor”.

Erdan a scris pe 𝕏: „Mobilizarea ONU în numele ucigașilor Hamas este greață și îmi vine să vomit! Și promovarea recunoașterii unilaterale a unui stat palestinian este un mesaj că terorismul dă roade.”

„Și, știi, prin promovarea unui stat palestinian, le spui copiilor care ucid, violatorilor de copii că teroarea dă roade. Nu ai nimic pentru victimă, dar te-ai mobilizat pentru criminali. Știți că Autoritatea Palestiniană nu îndeplinește criteriile pentru statutul de stat.”

„Palestinienii  au respins orice plan de pace ”, a adăugat Erdan, „pentru că, pentru ei, existența unui stat evreiesc este inacceptabilă. Nu este vorba despre pământ.”

Scriind pe 𝕏 despre discursul său la UNGA, Erdan a postat: „Am citat Haggadah de Paște pe scena ONU și i-am spus ambasadorului: Mulți au încercat să ne distrugă, din cele mai puternice imperii prin cele mai rele decrete – dar toți au eșuat. Pentru că poporul evreu este poporul eternității, iar statul Israel va exista pentru totdeauna!”

In a stinging speech to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan accused the United Nations of triggering a new wave of antisemitism on American college campuses by falsely accusing Israel in its war against Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

“By falsely condemning Israel and marking the Jewish State as the foundation of all evil, you are emboldening antisemites and terrorists alike. It is because of you that these mobs think that attacking Jews is acceptable. That calling for the deaths of Israelis is tolerable,” Erdan told the members of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

“This body reeks of antisemitism. It’s everywhere,” he continued and described pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protests on college campuses that have led to Jewish students being attacked and barred from classes in recent weeks.

“The chants of the pro-Palestinian rioters on campuses are calls for Israel’s destruction. We always knew that Hamas hides in schools. We just didn’t realize that it’s not only schools in Gaza. It’s also Harvard, Columbia, and many elite universities,” Erdan said in his fiery speech.

The Israeli UN ambassador compared the new wave of intense antisemitism in America’s elite universities with the rise of the Nazi movement in Germany.

“Just as Germany was the world capital of science and culture, yet it was there that Nazism was born and spread, history is now repeating itself. Elite universities – supposed bastions of liberalism and academia – have now become the breeding grounds for the most heinous racism and bigotry,” he warned.

“The UN cares nothing for Israeli blood. It is a collaborator with the Nazis of our day. Working to ensure Hamas’s survival and even reward them for murder and rape. I have no words,” Erdan stated.

“The UN! The General Assembly! The anti-Israel vitriol spread by this organization is what sparked what we are seeing today,” Erdan said as he continued to lambast the general assembly. 

“The UN today is the main impediment to peace. You. You are the dream come true for every Palestinian terrorist that seeks to destroy Israel through diplomatic terror. Because without your support, the Palestinians would have had to internalize that negotiations and mutual compromises are the only way forward – that’s how you make peace.”

The UN has singled out Israel while wars are raging in Sudan and Myanmar, Erdan said, calling out the Houthis for dragging Yemen to disaster. He also said that Pakistan is in the process of forcefully displacing 1.3 million people, Afghans are back under the Taliban’s radical control, and Iran is forcibly repressing women.

“But you aren’t interested in criticizing rogue states. You are interested only in smearing the Jewish state,” he continued and told the international UN community that if the United Nations does not make a serious change, “the world will wake up and see the disaster that the UN has become,” Erdan continued.

“In the future, students will study the fall of the UN. They will learn of this organization’s moral bankruptcy and blindness. They will be taught that your indifference and hypocrisy is what brought the UN crashing down.”

Erdan spoke during a special debate to protest the United States’ decision to veto the Palestinian Authority’s bid to become the 194th member of the United Nations.

The debate came amid concern within the international community about the civilians in Gaza, where according to Hamas, over 34,000 Palestinians have been killed in the war – a number that cannot be independently verified. Israel has said that over 13,000 of the fatalities are Hamas terrorists or allied combatants.

Palestinian envoy Riyad Mansour also spoke to the UN General Assembly, accusing Israel of massacring and torturing Palestinians. He also demanded membership for the State of Palestine, as well as calling for the UN to pressure Israel to end the war in Gaza.

“As we meet here today, Israel is still trying to push Palestinian people out of geography and out of history, its occupation descending to deeper levels of depravity,” Mansour said.

“An immediate ceasefire long called for by this assembly and demanded by this Security Council is indispensable and cannot be delayed any further,” he said.

“The admission of the State of Palestine to the UN is an unequivocal signal that Palestinian self-determination and statehood are not subject to the whims and will of the extremists in Israel. Our admission to the UN is long overdue. It has been 75 years in the making,” he said.

“We will never accept that the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, to statehood and admission to the UN in any way, would be in any way subject to an Israeli veto,” he said.

“We will not be deterred in our pursuit for freedom,” he went on.

“There are only two paths ahead. One that leads to a shared life and one that leads to common death. The more we wait, the harder it is to embark on the path that leads to just and lasting peace and shared security,” Mansour said.

The Palestinian envoy informed the assembly that the PA plans to turn to UNGA on May 10, and through a resolution, call on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to reconsider its application for admission.

“This is the time for action for accountability… the time to end complicity is now,” he said.

“If you wonder if you are on the right side of history, ask yourself one question: Is what I am doing advocating freedom and peace or enabling continued oppression and conflict?” Mansour asked.

Robert Wood, a U.S. Ambassador to the UN, said he was concerned that UNGA was now holding its second debate on the veto issue, and the meeting should not have been held. However, he noted that while the Biden administration “continues to strongly support a two-state resolution,” it believes that it should be done through direct talks with Israel.

Wood also raised the question of whether the Palestinians have met the technical requirements set out by the UN for statehood, citing that Hamas is “a terror organization,” and still exerting influence in Gaza.

The ambassador said the U.S. veto of Palestinian statehood at the UNSC “does not reflect opposition to Palestinian statehood, but instead is an acknowledgment that it will only come from direct negotiations between the parties,” Wood said.

Before Oct. 7, the U.S. had worked to promote Palestinian statehood through a normalization deal between Israel and its Arab neighbors, Wood said.

“This was based on the US judgment that normalization is the most viable pathway to make progress on the ground,” Wood said.

Speaking to the UN on the issue of Palestinian statehood, Erdan said, “No Palestinian leader, not a single one of them, has even condemned Hamas or their massacre.”

Erdan wrote on 𝕏: “The mobilization of the UN on behalf of Hamas murderers is nauseating and makes me want to vomit! And promoting the unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state is a message that terrorism pays off.”

“And, you know by advancing a Palestinian state, you are telling the child murdering, child rapists that terror pays off. You have nothing for the victim but have mobilized for the murderers. You know that the Palestinian Authority doesn’t meet the criteria for statehood.”

“The Palestinians rejected every peace plan,” Erdan added, “because, to them, the existence of a Jewish state is unacceptable. This is not about land.”

Writing on 𝕏 about his speech to UNGA, Erdan posted: “I quoted the Passover Haggadah on the UN stage and told the ambassador: Many have tried to destroy us, from the most powerful empires through the most evil decrees – but they all failed. Because the Jewish people are the people of eternity, and the State of Israel will exist forever!”
