EXTUBATED!
My miracle. Day 10 in the ICU. Mama was taken off ventilator today. She is recovering well. We are speechless, my medical brain cannot comprehend. From acute hypoxic respiratory failure, septic cardiomyopathy, ARDS, and septic shock secondary to COVID-19… she is now fully awake, breathing on her own, and talking. According to China’s data, she had a 7% chance of survival. She is our MIRACLE. The recovery won’t be easy. She still has a ways to go, but we are hoping to have her home within the next week.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all who fasted and prayed for mama and for my family. To those who went grocery shopping for us. To those who brought us home-cooked meals. To those who simply called daily to check in. To all those who sent uplifting messages of encouragement. To everyone who joined us in our suffering and felt our pain. THANK YOU. Mayoclinic. The team who is caring for mama. My heros. The nurses, doctors, and respiratory therapists who risked their lives everyday to care for her. The hours they spent talking to me on the phone and keeping me updated on what was happening. I am forever grateful. You remind me of the reason why I chose to become a doctor. Thank you. Thank you. Mama made this pandemic real for so many of us. Let’s continue to pray for our communities, for those suffering from this infection. For those at risk of being the most critically ill. For healthcare professionals who are risking their lives everyday. Let’s unite in prayer for those near and far, that we may make it out of this with joy and peace in our hearts, knowing that God is ultimately sovereign and good.
