Jerusalem – The Capital oh Hope Eternal

Why Should We Pray for Peace?

To you who have faith in God and believe in the silent power of your heart’s prayers, thank you. You are helping this beautiful world that God has given us. We each have the ability to pray to our all-powerful loving God, and He hears and answers the prayers of our hearts. He changes things by His grace and all of us benefit and are better off.

To make the world a better, safer, and more peaceful place for our children and their children and so on, we need to remember to pray to God and ask for His blessings of peace upon our world.

Looking around the world today at the current places that truly need our prayers for peace, Jerusalem stands out as a focal point for the whole world. It has been historically and continues to be to this day a hot spot. Jerusalem, this holy city, is a shared central hub for Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. Perhaps more prayers have been said in this city than anywhere else on earth. And yet, Jerusalem itself needs all our prayers, not just the prayers of those who live there. Jerusalem needs prayers from everyone.

It says in the Bible to pray for peace in Jerusalem, (Psalm 122:6 “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee” KJV).  Why does God ask this of us? Could it be part of God’s plan to get us all to come together in one prayer for our world? Maybe praying for peace in Jerusalem is a shared pathway to world peace.

So why should we pray for Jerusalem? When asked to share their views, here are the responses from Christian, Jewish, and Islamic leaders:

Christianity

Why should somebody pray for Israel? Because it is a commandment from God (Psalm 122:6). The peace of Jerusalem also brings blessings to those who pray, especially as God views our prayers as blessing the Jewish people (Gen. 12:3). Because you pray for the great messianic plan and you are part of it enjoying the fruits of grace. Because Israel gave to the world the greatest human that ever lived on this earth, Jesus Christ. Because the Christians are the branches grafted in the old olive tree (Romans11:11-24). Because their future is your future also: the kingdom of God. Because they keep the oracles of God for humanity (Rom. 3:102).

I can go on and on and on.
Let’s pray together.

Judaism

It says in the Bible (Psalm 122:6) to request peace in Jerusalem.

In the Talmud, it says that there should be love and kindness between all. We all should live a purposeful life and increase positivity. We should get along with our neighbors and bring more love and light into the world.

Jerusalem is like an electric power plant. Jerusalem and the holy temple supply a conduit of energy to the world.

The holy temple is in a state of destruction because of baseless hatred and fighting. To reverse this state and create a seamless peaceful Jerusalem without kinks in the power lines, we can start by doing senseless acts of kindness and pray for peace. We can add love to the world.

Sometimes there are massive complex global issues like climate change or issues between nations. People think, what can I do and what’s my place in it? We are just people. What impact can we have? We can start with our immediate circle, our family, our friends, and neighbors. We begin with our inner circle and focus on harmony, kindness, and love. When people feel that kindness, they think, “This feels good!” and it goes out and has a ripple effect in the world. It’s like being a candle and then lighting someone else’s candle.

Islam

There are different locations in the world that are important. Jerusalem is one of them. It is the central heart of the world. It’s one of the holiest places.

In Jerusalem, we have three religions – Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. These three religions are the heart of monotheism. All three religions are the children of Abraham. Right now, it’s like brothers fighting with each other.

Jerusalem is a very special place. It distributes the heart energy of the world. Right now, if you look at Jerusalem, it’s like a broken heart. It’s a reflection of the imbalance of the world because of the egoic need for power. Instead of getting along they are fighting over the Temple Mount. It’s sacred land and belongs to everybody. It’s the holy land of God. There is room for everyone; they just need to get along.

Prayer is very important for Jerusalem; it is the best thing there is. When Jerusalem is at peace, the whole world will probably be at peace…. and when it settles, it will bring peace in our hearts too.

Pray for Peace in Jerusalem

As we’ve read these three perspectives from diverse religious leaders, we can see they are basically in agreement in that Jerusalem is essential to all and plays a leading role on the stage of the world. We have also heard the many reasons why it’s so important to pray for peace in Jerusalem. It seems that our prayers for Jerusalem make a big difference in the world and for the hearts of mankind.

It would naturally follow that our prayers for peace in Jerusalem are important and needed. Surely God is listening and wanting us to pray. So, let’s all decide to help by remembering to pray and make it a new daily habit. A prayer can be as simple as:

“I pray that Your holy presence fills Jerusalem with peace. May Your blessings and grace restore harmony now, today and always.

Amen.”

You are welcome to pass along this message to all your family, friends and community. Tell everyone and spread the word. Peace is possible. Thank you for caring, sharing, and showing up to do your part in prayer.

Sincerely,
