The Rev. Franklin Graham Friday called on more clergy to become involved in politics on all levels “before it’s too late.”

“Do pastors belong in politics?” asked the son of the famed evangelist Billy Graham on Facebook. “Absolutely — if God leads them to be.”

In a Facebook post, Graham highlighted a CBN report from last month saying that more than 200 pastors across the nation were seeking office this election season.

He heads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Samaritan’s Purse global charity.

“I’m thankful for these 200 pastors who are getting involved in making a difference in their communities, their states, and the nation,” Graham said. “They’re encouraging their congregations to do the same, before it’s too late.”

“The time for Christians to be sitting on the sidelines is over!” he declared.

Graham quoted California Republican Assemblywoman Shannon Grove in his post.

She told CBN: “Do you think that if people on your deacon board or pastoral board were serving on the school board that you would be discussing same-sex bathrooms?”
