Thucydides is another one of those dead, white guys you probably never read about in school. He is no longer considered relevant. In fact, the writings of Thucydides matter. A careful reading of the Gospel of Luke and Book of Acts leads some Biblical scholars to believe Luke studied the rhetorical style of Thucydides when crafting the inspired works and lends credence to the belief these two books were the briefing books for Paul’s trial when he was brought to Rome.
