În Republica, Platon arată că tirania se naşte, de regulă, din democraţie. Din punct de vedere istoric, acest proces a avut loc în trei moduri destul de diferite. Dar înainte de a descrie aceste tipare de schimbare socială, să clarificăm cu precizie ceea ce înţelegem prin „democraţie”.
Reflectînd la întrebarea „Cine ar trebui să conducă?”, un democrat dă următorul răspuns: „majoritatea cetăţenilor, egali din punct de vedere politic, fie în persoană, fie prin intermediul reprezentanţilor lor.” Cu alte cuvinte, egalitatea şi regula majorităţii reprezintă cele două principii fundamentale ale democraţiei. Daniel George Great article. Without saying it, it proves American exceptionalism, what’s left of it. The framers created a representative republic, not a democracy, answerable to the constitution and the bill of rights which are based on judeo(Old Testament)- Christian(new Teatament) ideals. Make no mistake without the First and Second Amendments the US would have been taken over by tyranny long ago. As a result every 4 or 8 years the USA can still go through essentially a coup d’état, with a peaceful transfer of power, if you don’t count 1963 when JFK was removed by assassination. (conspiracy or not, it still set the US on a very different path.). Unfortunately, the ones who are supposed to be salt and light, illuminating truth and preserving freedom, voted 35% for a man that voted against the born alive protection bill while IL state senator, essentially endorsing the murder of babies who survived abortions, by denying them care. The US is not being destroyed by liberals, it is being destroyed by the churches that refuse to address “political” issues because they live in fear of the IRS. We may survive Obama, but unless the pastors stand for the principles of Biblical Liberty, I don’t know if we’ll survive Pres. Clinton or Warren or Bush for that matter. God help us.
