Un leu în iarnă
At 95 years old, Billy Graham is still speaking out publicly about the faith which drives him every single day. He’s truly a man of grace and integrity.
We’ve written about his son, Franklin Graham, who recently explained why he wouldn’t cave on the issue of homosexuality when so many other Christians have. His father recently took on the prevailing cultural and political orthodoxy to challenge Americans to seek Christ in these troubled times.
He called “hope and change” a cliche, and said that we were letting this cheap bumper-sticker slogan lead us away from God and into tyranny.

CNS News reports:
Rev. Billy Graham said that America was founded upon Biblical principles and the idea that people can freely worship God without fear of government oppression, adding that “hope and change” slogans are a cliché in the nation and that it is disconcerting “to think that any American could hope for change from what God has blessed.”
“Americans have always fought for freedom. This is why America was founded: to worship the one true God openly with no fear of tyranny,” said Rev. Graham, 94, in a written interview with Newsmax.com that was published on Sunday. “Our early fathers led our nation according to Biblical principles.”
“Hope and change has become a cliché in our nation and it is daunting to think that any American could hope for change from what God has blessed,” said Rev. Graham.
“Our country is turning away from what has made it so great, but far greater than the government knowing our every move that could lead to losing our freedom to worship God publicly is to know that God knows our every thought; He knows our hearts need transformation,” said Graham.
“The human heart can be changed only by the power of God,” he said. “Hope is certain only through His Son Jesus Christ — not in the change agents of the world, and when the end of the world as we know it takes place at Christ’s return, no government can prevent it and no individual can escape it. Those who hope for it will welcome it; those who refuse to embrace its reality will never change its certainty.”
Wow. What powerful words from such an eloquent man. He’s highlighted an important issue for us to consider: Liberals have essentially attempted to replace God with the State. Rather than trusting in Him and looking to Him for guidance, we’re supposed to look to almighty government to take care of our needs. The State has attempted to be “all-knowing” by watching our every move, as only God can.
We don’t need to trust Obama to bring us “hope and change”: Graham points out that the true change is the one that is made in our hearts when Christ transforms us and gives us hope. God bless Billy Graham and his family for speaking from the heart.
